Hello! I grew up in Brookline, MA later entering the work field as a computer programmer, then a sole proprietor of a shop-at-home window treatment and accessory business. However, when I was quite young, I always dabbled in some art form. Whether it be knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, embroidery, or needlepoint, you could always see creations I was working on! When I entered 3rd grade, sewing was one of the classes I had to take and as you may have guessed, my discovery of luscious fabrics! I created lots of clothes, entered a few contests and continued on. When I was a sophomore in high school, taking a home economics class (sewing and cooking), my teacher gave the students an assignment of teaching oneself something they knew nothing about. You guessed it – I chose quilting! What started out as large squares, tons of batting to make the quilt very puffy, and tying every square in each corner, by hand, that was what I created. They were very traditional quilt patterns such as the ‘log cabin’, & ‘trip around the world’, but over many years, I taught myself colorful, contemporary bed, baby and wall quilts, as well as art quilts featuring flowers, and animals sometimes with a splash of whimsy thrown in, such as 3-D eyelashes on a giraffe art quilt! I also create pillowcases of all sizes, tuffets (remember…little miss Muffet sat on a tuffet!!), pot holders, travel tissue holders and more. As you can imagine, I’m ‘addicted’ to pure cotton fabrics, especially hand-made batiks from Indonesia. I’m sure my journey will continue and maybe I will discover something new that I can incorporate into my creations! I thank you for reading about me and please enjoy my gallery.
